Local Favorite

SET: Patuka Community

     *Penny Candless

     *Miranda Mills

     *Camille Jones

Members of the community theatre group are trying to save their theatre, and its childhood memories. Among the members are Penny and Camille. When she was young, Penny was frequently put in  competitions she invariably won, because she was the local favorite.

Another friend, Miranda, had dreams of stardom, but everytime she was against Penny, Penny won no matter how good Miranda did or how bad Penny did. Penny was always pushed forward, considered the star, the good girl. Actually, Penny admired Miranda.

In their senior year the girls had planned a duet. But, relatives were promoting Penny to be the star of the show, and reduce Miranda’s role, possibly cutting it. Miranda just backed out, and left town.

Now, the girls are adults, Penny is a teacher, and on the theatre board. Others are certain she will do something to save the theatre. They need something big to bring in audiences and money. Camille suggested bringing back Miranda, now a star. Others were reluctant, Penny wants to, but is afraid her old friend hates her.
